On my flight from Amsterdam to Singapore, I had one of the worst nightmare on flight - I vomited in my sleep! Yes. Vomit. Sleep. Towards the end of my crew rest.
The motion of that terrible and gross act woke me up in shock. I gagged thrice and in split seconds the blanket that was covering my body was filled with vomitus.
Afraid that I might woke the rest up from their rest, I quickly took my hand phone (the alarm will go off in 5 mins), and the blanket to the lavatory outside the rest area.
Luckily, there was a vacant lavatory and the door was bolted shut immediately after I stepped in.
I threw the smelly and dirty blanket in the bin. Was all dazed and giddy.
Looking at the mirror, my reflection was hideous. Dark brown stains of the residue rested on my right cheek. Sigh.. What had happened to me?
"boop... Boop... Boop..." Urgh! I vomited again.
Knowing that one set of fresh uniform awaits me in my trolley bag, I was relieved. Quickly, I changed into it and guess what ... I vomited again.
In an hour, I vomited a total of 7 times, until my bright orange gastric juice was seen.
Nausea and feeling very weak, the very nice leader allowed me to rest until landing.
Many of the guys on board congrats me for being pregnant. And I told them I can't be pregnant as my menses ended just a few days ago. But the reason just fell into their deaf ears.
Hmm... Was it food poisoning? Besides, I ate what everyone eat on flight. And no one seems to be having food poisoning. Am I the "suay" one??
The captain mentioned that I was still so lively and bubbly before my rest and looked so pale and lifeless after.
After landing, I immediately went to see the airport doctor. To my dismay, it is too early in the morning (7am) that I have to wait for 1-2 hours for the first doctor to report for work.
Going back home, into the arms of Hubby is better than waiting like a fool in the airport clinic right?
Besides, I deserve lots of TLC. Hee hee..
Our family doctor diagnose me with stomach flu. And I just have to stay home and rest. Drink lots of warm fluid and stay clear of food for the 1st day. Doctor also mentioned that I had contracted the illness on flight from someone sick..
Ahh... I think I know who.. I just suay that I ate something that the person prepared. As he is sick, I should had taken lots of precaution and reduce as much contact as possible since my stomach is pretty weak and my stomach bacteria (good n bad) are very active. Thus, my immune system is really weak.
If you are sick - please warn the people around you. Best way is to take a break from work to recuperate so you won't spread the germs to others who are as weak as me. :(
