Valentine's Day Dinner

Happy Valentine's Day everyone~

Oops.. I'm one month late. Please pardon me.

For this very special day, I decided to cook. Cooking is an extremely difficult task for me as I sucks at it. So I guess if I managed to cook something for Hubby on Vday, I am a wonderful wife. Hahaha..

With the help of a recipe photo-book from Marks & Spencer, helpful aunties/staffs from NTUC, Twinkle (she came to help me to stir-fried one of the dishes) and my beloved Hubby (he accompanied me to the Wet Market at 8am to buy fresh ingredients), I managed to make it through. Phew~

Herbal Black Chicken Soup

This is the easiest to prepare. And soup is everyone's favorite too!

Black Chicken

Handling raw black chicken is really gross.. I'm glad that I only need to use this few parts of the chicken to brew my soup.

Seafood

For the Thai green curry. Super duper yummy!!

Stir-fried Tofu + Bok Choy

Ingredients used.

What a feast right?

So proud of myself..

Heart-shaped rice prepared by Twinkle. So Vday feel. :)

Living Room - Updated Look

After

Before

So, what do you guys think of my updated living room?

I feel that the large photo canvas does add some "New York / Manhattan" points. What's missing is cushions... Been looking around for really nice ones with interesting texture or designs.

Next, a red dining table for 2. :)

Finally a sofa! :D

Been looking around for a suitable sofa for our living room.

Love at first sight with L-shape sofa so that we can lie comfortably infront of the TV. However, most are too bulky for our tiny living room.

After dropping by at E'clusive Home, we were told that we can "customize" the size & color of our sofa~! Fantastic!

The best thing about this sofa is that you can extend the either one or both the seat~ Love!!

Initially, I was looking at the Muji carpet $580 for our living room. Half a thousand for carpet is really expensive, so we decided to head down to Arab Street to check out the carpets there.

We managed to bargained $80 off the price.. Not sure if we managed to get a good deal or not. But it sure helps to make the living room uber chic & cosy. Love!!

Next on my wishlist is a PS3 to play my Guitar Heroes! Weeeweee!!

3 seater Pearly Leather sofa from X'Clusive Home - $1069

Carpet from Arab Street - $200

Half boiled Salted Egg

half boiled salted egg

Kimmie was feeling hungry at odd hours. So she decided to cook herself some porridge and salted egg.

However.. it was her first time preparing a salted egg.

"Hmm.. how should I go about doing it??"

The salted egg was covered with salted powered charcoal.

Put the whole thing into the boiling water?

Shortly after, Michelle texted her that the salted powered charcoal had to be removed before boiling - http://messywitchen.com/how-to/how-to-clean-salted-duck-egg/

Alamak!!

After few minutes, Kimmie removed the charcoal from the boiled egg in the boiling water.. Halved it and da ta~~ Half boiled salted egg.

First time trying half boiled salted egg. It tasted alright but would prefer the hard boiled version. :P

Anyway, it was a delicious home made supper *wink*

Lovely Love Nest

Hello peeps..

Just in case you guys were wondering how is the progress of our place. Here are the photos taken - before & after the major facelift~!

A major hacking has to be done to the wall inbetween the living room & kitchen..

The location of the door to the bedroom was adjusted as well.

The retro 60's flooring was removed as well. No love lost. Sorry..

Not able to hack the wall between the WC and shower because of the pipes in between. So we will have to do with the separate toilet.

Can't wait for my black toilet bowl!! :)

This the shower area. Will include a rain shower. :)

Saw online that there is the waterfall shower.. However, not yet in Singapore. Boohoo..

Tiles.

More tiles

Cement.

Kitchen flooring done.

Cabinets fixed.

L-box lights fixed.

Love the major facelift !!

And when I shower, the black tiles does gives me a reflection & I kinda like it. :P

Woohoo.. Black toilet bowl.

I guess the pros is not being able to see your poo after you shit. Cus everything is so dark..

And the cons is.. you don't even know when your toilet bowl is dirty with the stains. Urgh!

Frosted glass door. Uber chic! Love it!

Spot lights.

For mood setting. But uber hot and not practical. Hahaha..

List of things to get for the house:

1. Guest room bed
2. Sofa
3. Coffee Table
4. Small dining table

TVs, Fridges, Washing Machines...

Made a trip down to Gain City Marina Square with a long list of items to see and enquire yesterday.

  • Television
  • Front Load washer/dryer
  • Fridge
  • Stove
  • Air-condition
  • Oven

There are soooo many to choose from and it's giving me a huge headache as I can't differentiate which will be the better choice for us to get.

Luckily, the sales person Andy, gave me a lot of useful information on the products that I am keen to know more about.

Still, it's not easy to choose within a wide range of "everything-seems-good" products.

Just take air-condition for example.

We need inverter air-condition, 4 Ticks Distinction Energy Saving Labels

We have Mitsubushi $2869, Panasonic $2799, Toshiba (the only JAPAN made) $2989, Sharp $2679 and Daikin $2940 to choose from.

Mitsubushi, Panasonic (new sleek model.. just came in 3-4 months ago) and Daikin is the top 3 choices to me.

And it isn't easy to choose between the 3. Grrr..

For television.. we should get the LED as it's more energy saving and it doesn't produce too much heat when you are sitting in front of one large television.

Should I spend $1,999 (usual price $3,999) for a 40-inch Samsung Series 7 3D LED  TV?

Or just get a regular $1,299 LG 42-inch Full HD LED TV?

If I were to get the one with 3D, the games I play on PS3 (yes, I need to buy that too.. for the Guitar Heroes set that is collecting dust at one corner of the house) will look great!

On top of that, I will need a sound bar too.

Should I get one with a integrated blu  ray player from Samsung which will set me back at $1329, or get them separated which will take up more space but is cheaper?
As for stove.. should I get the cheaper and prettier glass stove or the practical stainless steel and cost double one?

Front Loader washer/dryer - LG or Samsung? Both cost $1,000+ too..

It seems that Andy been promoting Samsung to me. :P

Hey, where is all the Japanese products?

Renovation lobangs?

I have been browsing many local home decor magazines for the past 2 weeks. Managed to cut out some designs which I fancy. :)

Simplicity is beauty.

It will be the theme for our home.

We won't be hiring an interior designer so as to keep our renovation cost as low as possible. And we will be doing all the "shopping of materials, furnitures, fixtures" all by ourselves. So fun and exciting!

A list of things we need to get:

Fixture
• inverter air condition (Mitusbishi/Panasonic/Daikin)
• lighting - bedroom
• lighting - living room
• lighting - dining hall
• lighting - kitchen
• lighting - utility room
• toilet bowl (Toto)
• rain shower head
• wallpaper
• homogenous tiles (bathroom)
• flooring
• large mirror (living room)
• shoes cabinet
• warobe

Furniture
• sofa
• television
• dining room carpet
• living room carpet
• bedroom carpet
• PS3
• fridge
• washing machine
• dryer
• dressing table
• dining table
• bedframe

The only lobang I have from the above is the wallpaper. If you guys know any good lobang, must share with me ok ok? ;)

That's all I can think at the moment, will add on to the list as I think that there's more to add.

How should we design our home?

As the date of our 1st HDB appointment is approaching, I can't stop feeling excited about us owning a home so soon.

Browsing furniture stores.. Reading home magazines.. Looking for condominiums showroom for inspiration.. are some of the things we did.

It's like a major fun project. :) Only thing is that it involves huge sum of money. Boohoohoo..

Hopefully we will be able to find some really value for money contractor, carpenter, electrician, etc. :)

In the meantime, I will be keeping a lookout for some really nice items (lightings, paintings, ornaments, etc) for our home. If you have any good lobang in Singapore or overseas, please feel free to share it with me ok?

Looking for this bubble thingy for our living room. ❤ And should you know where to get it dirt cheap, please please please let me know where and how much!! Thank you~!

New home for Kimmie & Charles

Hello peeps,

So sorry for the lack of updates.. Have been busy.

Spent my new year at JB with my Hubby and his colleagues. Will post photos of the new year countdown asap ;)

Then headed to London for 5 days. So happy to have a close clique. Met really nice people on the flight. CSS Fiona, FSS Emily, FSS Joanne, FSS Shutian.

Went for house viewing.

Found a resale flat that we like :) and it's the first house that I view.

And we're going to bank tomorrow morning to apply for mortgage loan, and in the evening I'll be flying to Sydney.

So many things to do.. So little time :p

I'm so excited about the house that I can't sleep. Been thinking of how should we renovate the place! Share this post:
