My Homework for Tokyo Feb 2012

Hello people..

I am doing my homework right now. Yeah, gotta be hardworking because I am planning an awesome holiday to Tokyo for my dearest handsome *clear throat* (recently, he kept saying he's very handsome, and it's kinda fun to play along too :P) Hubby.

Initially, we planned to go for Club Med at Maldives for S$5,000 minus the air-ticket price.  Besides, February is an awesome period to go and soak up the sun there.

Recently, Hubby got called-up at the very last minute for SQ12 and had an awesome time in Tokyo. I being quite an expert with Tokyo *uhem* (there was a period I did SQ12 for like 3 times in 3 months), think it would be awesome for me to show him around and bring him to my favorite hang-out places there. So we had decided to go Tokyo instead of Maldives.

Well, I did mentioned that I'm an expert with Tokyo right. So why do I have to do homework then?

Ahhhhh..... that is because I totally have no idea how should I go about getting a pre-paid SIM card with data plan in Japan. I need internet connection because I wanna use it hand in hand with an Apple App I found today :)

So I went to google about it and found out that it is not a good idea to get a pre-paid SIM card in Japan. Boohoo..

Then, I found this - MiFi.

Apparently it provides rental service that connects to the internet from my computer or smartphone. Best of all, it is unlimited access to the internet with a flat rental fee.

Wow.. In fact, I can connect up to five devices at the same time. Hubby's iPhone, Kimmie's iPhone and MacBook Air on the go.. So we can still use our gadgets anywhere and anytime we want in Tokyo. :) No more going missing. Hee hee hee..

For 1-4 days, the rental fee is JPY3,150 (S$52) which is really reasonable. But the fine prints read: Basic Fee JPY1,575 per kit will be necessary and a postage fee of JPY1,050. So the total will be SG96!! OH DARN!!! That is really not CHEAP now. Besides, the battery life of the WiFi is really short too. 4 hours perhaps?

In that case, I have to look for alternative.

Well, I do have an option with Singtel's Bridge DataRoam Unlimited Plus. With a flat fee of S$20 per day, and automatically deactivate at 12 midnight on the same date. It seems like a better option if I were to activate the internet for the number of days there - hassle free! Besides, I will be spending 2 days in Disneyland and Disney Sea.. so no time for internet right?

So minus the 2 days at Disney, I have about 3-4 days in Tokyo. So I will only need to spend S$60-80.

I wonder if I were to activate the Bridge DataRoam on my iPhone, will I be able to switch on my Personal Hotspot to allow my MacBook Air and Hubby's iPhone for tethering? Anyone has any clue on this?

Hmm..

I bet you guys must be wondering why do I need the internet for? Earlier I had mentioned that I wanna use it hand in hand with a iPhone App - Tokyo Teleport Plus Video Guide

This app doesn't come cheap either.. The usual travel apps are only USD4.99 but this.. it's double the price at USD9.99

The reviews on this app are all 5 stars. Only recently, with its latest updates, it seems that the app crashes. Should I get it???

Oh manz.. Super tempting.

Anyway, I found another iPhone app and it's FREE!!

With this guide, you can download the map of the city that you will be visiting. In my case, it's Tokyo And there are 7 self-guided tours in it. :)

Worst come to worst, I will be using this free app without any internet connection in Tokyo and still be a happy girl. Hopefully. :P

Grand Central Oyster Bar & Resturant

On my way up to New York, CS Daryl who is also a foodie, asked if we would like to join him for oyster feast at Grand Central Terminal.

OYSTERS? Many different types?? Yes yes!!! Please count me in.

1 hour after checking in, the 4 of us met at the lobby and walked for about 8 mins to reach our destination :)

Menu for December 13.

Under the Raw Bar, you can choose from a selection of at least 25 types of oysters. Hamu Hamu and Mayflower are my favorite.

4 different types of oyster on this plate. Are you able to tell which is which?

Clam Chowder and the raw oyster are the best there.. We had tired the other soups and main courses (fish and lobsters) but nothing fantastic.

For 4 guests: 32 pieces of oyster, 2 soups, 3 mains, 1 bottle of wine - the bill total to be USD270. On top of that we had to give a 20% tip.

So I guess, next time ... just whack the raw oysters, clam chowder and a bottle of white wine will do. You will be full & satisfied! :)

Annual Christmas Exchange

It's the time of the year again! ❤ ❤ ❤

Christmas Exchange with the girls. Woohoo!

Our budget of $50 still remains the same. And to buy a present around $50 budget ain't an easy task..

Venue chosen was at Carousel at Royal Plaza Hotel Singapore, renowned for its sumptuous Asian and Mediterranean buffets.

Glady was the first to arrive. She said she was super duper hungry and had to eat first.

As for me.. I touch down in the morning 8am from a delayed flight. When evening came, I wanted to continue sleeping and skipped the meeting :P But then again, it's a once-a-year kind of thing.. So I HAVE to wake my lazy bum from my comfy seductive bed.

Please pardon my hair and makeup for the night as I overslept and didn't have time to really blow my hair nicely.

Dress: Love Bonito
Shoes: Love Bonito
Earrings: Seoul

Melissa & Ann arrived from work roughly few mins apart, and they were so happy to dig in right away.

Very soon, creamy oysters, drunken prawns and sashimi filled our tables. :) Yummy!!

After a hour or so feasting.. we were full to the brim and were so ready & excited to open our presents. ❤

First, Kimmie's presents to the girls:

Ann with Kimmie's present.

Melissa's present from Kimmie.

Mel's blouse is from Love Bonito too! ❤

My hint to Mel and Ann is that it is something which you will be able to use when u need to go overseas. Mel managed to guess it correctly *clap clap*

Glady's presents from Kimmie.

My hint to Glady: something that you can apply.

Kate Spade passport cover in Pink. It matches her own Pink Kate Spade wallet from the same range. :)

Sexy black Kate Spade passport cover for classy Mel.

Benefits' Mr Bright makeup set for Glady. :)

And now it's turn to open Glady's presents for us:

This small present is from Glady.

Small is good.. :D

Hint from Glady: You can't get this in Singapore and States.

Glady's present to Mel.

Look how happy Mel is. Kekekeke...

Ann's turn.

Wooohoo!!

Jill Stuart Christmas makeup set from Japan.

Not cheap manz!

Awww... so beautiful and princessy

Christmas Sleepwear from Victoria Secret.

Bath & Body Works Christmas Set.

Next, Mel's presents for us.

Hint: Electronics for women.

Mel's present for Ann.

Quite big.. Wonder what it is.

Mel's present to Glady.

Hmm.. box is a cube. Tough to guess..

Mel's present for Me :)

OSIM portable massager!

Glady LOVES body massage.. and she seems to do one almost after every flight. So this is a great gift for her.

Straightener and curler for Ann.. As Ann often meet us with her messy hair. HAHAHA..

And mine is a sexy RED portable Panasonic electric toothbrush. Great for using on board. Pity I do not have a picture of it. Cus they were busy with their presents that no one took one for me :( hahaha..

The finale.. Ann's presents for us.

Ann really can surprise me.. She's the "bo xin" (no heart in Hokkien a.k.a the heartless) one in our group. Boys always come first before friends.

However, this time her choices of presents impressed me. Good one Ann!

Hint from Ann: Things u will use or put on.

Ann's present for Glady.

Single size bed sheet.

Just in time as Glady will soon be having a room of her own as her brother just bought a Condo.

Hmm... something that you can put on.. Apparel? From Takashimaya (judging from the wrapper).. Clothes from Takashimaya is quite mature le..

Woohoo.. A pencil skirt from Zara. And it's really tight n sexy! Nice one!!

Makes me wanna get one for myself.

Last but not least.. Kimmie..

The biggest present of the night.

And it's a Fruit Juice Blender! :)

Yeah!! I love it to bits! Just what I needed to blend healthy juice for Hubby and myself ;)

Merry Christmas everyone ~!

I had fun opening presents.. How about you? :)

Zurich with Twinkle*

Brrr... Zurich is cold, wet & windy..

Kimmie felt lazy to go out - she just want to be like Hammie.. Hibernate when the season get cold. :P

Since Twinkle is on my flight, I better get my sticky butt off the uber comfy bed. Make better use of the precious time that we are spending overseas. Such trip doesn't come often you know.

Twinkle suggested to go to the Christmas Market which is 10 mins tram ride away. And I have never been to other part of Zurich other than the nearby supermarket Coop and Mt Titlis (which is really far away for sightseeing).  So I was kinda game for it :)

Pink trees!!

Twinkle & Kimmie at the Christmas Market

The entrance of a small Christmas Market.

Twinkle & Kimmie posing with Santa & our uber cute froggy heat pad. Heat pad is a must for  cold weather~

Pamela, Twinkle & Kimmie

Make a Wish hut.

I wish for mooooooore LOVE surrounding me.

Time to pen our wishes down.

Twinkle has a long list of wish list! Greedy girl. Wahahaha!!

After a "long" day outside in the open.. Twinkle brought us to this really nice cafe Sprüngli for hot chocolate & delicious deserts.

Apparently Sprüngli is known internationally for its macaroons which are Twinkle's favorite~

For dinner.. we dined at Singapore Restaurant..

I had the laska - Swiss Franc 20 (SGD 28). Quite expensive but it's the standard here in Zurich.

Till then..

1st December 2011

A date to celebrate - It's our 1st year anniversary. :)

Gosh!! Time really flies!

Our ROM seems to be like yesterday?!

Instead of getting me gift this year, Hubby just want to fill my stomach with food. He knows that no matter how crappy or shitty my day went, as long as I managed to eat GOOD and QUALITY food, I will be happy and pleased. This kind of bliss is priceless and unexplainable, unless you are a foodie like me.

Side track a bit: I know many people just can't believe that I eat a lot and still so skinny. I really love food. I can eat a lot if the food is up to my standard. Say for example, a piece of salmon sashimi. I love salmon sashimi.. the amount of salmon sashimi I can eat in a single sitting is scary! However, if the salmon served is not tasty/fresh/poor quality, I won't touch it after a trying a slice even though I love salmon sashimi. It's something that I am not proud of but I just can't help it. Gulp!

So back to the topic, this was what Hubby had treated me to.

Day 1 - Morton's the steakhouse at Oriental Mandarin Hotel
It was our first time there and I had been bugging him for a long time to bring me there someday. I was hooked on the FREE mini beef sandwich at the Morton's Bar during April 2011 to celebrate Ann's birthday. So I am like dying to sink my teeth into the real piece of beef one day. We ordered cold seafood platter, steaks and desert. Very expensive! I feel that it was pretty over-priced, don't think I will go back there again because the food (especially the oyster and steaks) was below my expectation. Service wise was top-notched! They have very attentive staffs.

Day 2 - Melben Seafood at Toa Payoh
Oh manz.. I just can't resist a crab. My No. 1 favorite is the Chili Crab of No Signboard Seafood at Geylang. And Melben Seafood's Bee Hoon Crab is my No. 2 love!

Day 3 - Angus House at Ngee Ann City
Since I didn't have a good steak and oyster at Morton's, Hubby decided to bring me to Angus House to ease my dissatisfaction. Oyster there is just so yummy, fresh and soooooo much cheaper!! The steak is good too! I just love the course by course dinner. Prawn biscuit starter, pumpkin soup, salad, main course and tiramisu desert (I don't take any coffee thingy, so I opted for ice-cream instead)

Non-stop feasting on good food back to back. Happy Kimmie ~

Young Parents

Approaching 30.  I guess my maternal instinct is kicking in...

These are the things I did recently:

  • Subscribed to Young Parents magazine for 1 year
  • Bought "Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother" e-book
  • Watched 康熙来了 - 月子做得好永远没烦恼  (very informative!! I had learnt a lot from this episode on confinement)
  • Watched Channel U's Daddy 101 on XinMSN with Charles. :P
  • Researched on the confinement choices in Singapore
  • Researched on doing confinement in Taiwan confinement center

Guess it is just me. Just wanna know as much information as possible before we plan for any children. :P But it does not mean that I am ready for one yet.. I feel that I am still a child, not wanting to grow up so fast! Hahaha..

Sydney with Hubby

Hubby had been asking when we will do a flight together. Every time when the new roster is published, Hubby look forward to long flights that we can do together. Somehow, his only long flight clashes between my 2 long flights :P Of course I am not willingly to give up 2 long flights for his 1 lousy long flight. *evil laughter*

Ahem..

Well, so coincidence that my Sydney was one day after his. Being a sweet wifey (like I have always been... wahahaha), I emailed the girls on his flight to do a swap with me. And that's how we get to go to Sydney together. *wink*

Flight was one of the best I did for a A380. There were only 5 Business Class trained girls, including me. So we had to maintained in Business Class. Which was a good choice as Economy was full to the brim. The 5 of us were all B744 crew and we had so much chemistry working together. Over-lapsing each other task without having to repeat what each other do. In a way, it is highly efficient and productive. I can feel that the Business Class passengers somehow or rather can feel that in us, and were very apprehensive and nice.

Last but not least, having Hubby on board was rather fun.. As I can join in the fun, with others, to disturb him when I offer to assist his zone after completing my Business Class work.

Checking in was rather sweet, as we can hug each other to nap after a long day at work. :)

Hubby & Kimmie at Darling Harbour

Please pardon my face. No sunblock, no concealer, no powder.. cus we overslept for 1hr and I only had 5 mins to wash up & dress up.

Kimmie with the new-comers :) hoped that they will enjoy flying as much as I do.

Rathaus - which is located near our hotel. Very beautiful right?

Last shot of the day. Night folks!
