Lucerne & Mt Titlis, Switzerland *photo heavy*

Hubby was so excited for this trip to Switzerland because he has been dying to visit Mt. Titlis. One of the most visited alps in the world.

It is a must go place for Singaporeans like us because it is so different from the 365 days of tropical, hot, humid 36°C weather we have back in South East Asia. To visit a place like this is a dream come true for the tropical plebeians.

The temperature at Zurich, Switzerland was 5 to 9 °C which was quite comfortable for us. So we worn 2 layers of top, a pair of jean with thermal legging/pants inside. Brought along gloves and a really thick winter coat for the  -3°C  climate up in Mt. Titlis.

Hubby was so clever to pack his ear muffs for this trip, without reminding me to bring mine along. I had frozen painful ears thoughtful my day up in the alps...

This was the Lucerne and Mt. Titlis tour that we booked.  The bus came to pick us up at 8.45am.

The receipt for the tour paid at our hotel in Zurich.

01 adult = CHF 149 (which is about SGD 197)

Breakfast / Lunch not included in this tour. Remember to bring your own snack and water.

The Best of Switzerland Tours orange sticker that we have to put on as there are other tours members sharing the same bus as us.

Couple shot of us in the tour bus on our way to see the Lion Monument at Lucerne.

First Stop: Lion Monument of Lucerne

*candid shot*

Traditional Swiss building in the background.

Hubby at the Lion of Lucerne monument.

The monument is dedicated to the Swiss guards who were massacred during the French revolution. The dying lion is impaled by a broken spear, covering a shield and another shield in front of it.

A rather peaceful and quiet place.

Tourist at the Lion of Lucerne

Next stop: Lake Lucerne

Behind me is the bridge at the famous Lake Lucerne. I heard from Hubby that during spring, the bridge will be covered with beautiful bright flowers. I would love to see that one day. However, the place during winter looks dull and boring.

Not far away from here are the Mt. Pilatus and Rigi of the Swiss Alps. You can actually sight it from here but our camera couldn't captured it clearly because of the gloomy weather.

Look!!

There's a duck.

And the water of Lake Lucerne is so clear! OMG!!

You can even see the ducks dive under water.

What a sight.

I can never see this in Singapore. Our famous Singapore River is so smelly, dirty and still look polluted to me. If only our water is this clean, people will not get sick engaging in water sport activities in Singapore.

Outdoor market on Sunday. Bread, flowers, olives filled the market.

This store selling many variety of cheese.

Looking at food this point of time made me really hungry! Almost lunch time. Time for a bite.

Breakfast at Starbucks by the window.

Enjoying a cup of hot chocolate in this cold weather and people-watching with Hubby makes me happy.

Final and most happening stop: Mt. Titlis

Tickets were given to us by the guide. Have to keep this ticket with us for use at the Ice Flyer later.

Adults with their children in ski gear.

I wish to go for a ski trip one day. *dreams*

Will be taking a long cable ride up...

Welcome to Mt. Titlis. Woohoo!!

The beginning of the long and awkward ride up with strangers in the cabin.

A Malaysia flag behind me on cabin #103. Malaysia Boleh! ;)

After getting off at the 2nd stop, we transferred to Titlis Rotair which brought us higher up the alps. Couldn't take any photo because the Titlis Rotair was sardine packed with tourists, skiers and snowboarders. We could only enjoy the magnificent view of the glacier and alps. WOW factor of the scenic view: 100%!

Mt. Titlis at 10,000 feet.

We were blessed with awesome bright sunny weather up there. Couldn't ask for more.

Look at this frozen telescope.

The background is breathless~!

Since we cannot ski due to the limited time we have at Mt. Titlis, we shall pretend to be one of them with this standee. Hahaha!!

Aww... love the view.

Tranquillity filled our hearts and souls.

Brr... it's really soooo cold!!

Heading to the Glacier Grotto of Mt. Titlis.

Hubby wanna lick the ice in the Glacier Grotto.

Luckily he didn't because I cannot imagine his tongue being stuck to the ice! It would have been a funny sight to behold.

The Glacier Grotto was kinda boring. And there's no pink/blue/green lightings to make the place more interesting.  It was wet and slippery in there despite the rubber mats placement. Luckily my DKNY boots has a really good grip. And Hubby almost fell. So scary can.

We hurried out of that boring yet scarily slippery Glacier Grotto and made our way to the Mt. Titlis Cliff Walk.

Enjoying my time on the highest suspension bridge in Europe.

It was built to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Mt Titlis Rotair. The bridge will be open everyday unless the weather doesn't permits.

Not many people is on this bridge because it is hidden behind Ice Flyer chair lift station.

Definitely not for children and the weak-hearts  because you can see the endless bottom through the wire mesh which can be quite scary.

Also, please wear a pair of boots can doesn't make you slip upon contact with wetness. Hubby almost slipped again. Super scary can!

YOU JUST HAVE TO BE HERE to enjoy the view from this bridge. Photos doesn't do any justice.

We are on the Mt Titlis Ice Flyer chair lift.

By looking at my expression, you can tell that I'm super scare of heights right?

Yes! I am BLARDY scare of heights. Especially with my legs swinging loosely in mid air.

Hubby kept shooting us. I was worried that he might drop the heavy SLR camera. Holding onto a SLR camera single-handed out in the super cold air is not easy.

Smile for the camera~ ~

So beautiful right..

At the end of the Ice Flyer, we were told of this "secret" place by a cute German mechanic of Mt. Titlis (who happened to be chatting with the Ice Flyer operator).

Nice "secret" place with no one around.

Hubby & I goofed around. Enjoying the deep snow beneath our boots. We wanted to have a snow fight but had to forgo that because we were both too cold.. I had disposable heat pads (bought from 100 yen shop) in my boots and my toes can't feel a thing.

We decided to just opt for jump shots instead. Haha.

Trying to make a snowball with my boots. Hahaha..

Wanted to make a snowball but it was just too cold.

Around 3.30pm, we headed to the Children's Park, where we played snow tubes and sleigh. By then, the sky starts to darken. During winter in Europe, daylight is shorter.

Wohoo!! Snow tubes!!

It was like playing with tubes in a water park minus the water.

Great for children and child-like adults like me. Hahaha!!

I like the belt that bring us and the tubes up to the starting point. No lugging the tubes up, no sweat too. All you need is to hold on the strap of the tube and stand on the belt. Nice!

So fun!

I know I look like an idiot here trying to be small.

But hey, the European adults also play on this tiny little sleighs too.

This is really awesome! The speed is much faster than the tube. For this, you will need technique. You need to position one of the hands out behind you to help you in balancing and directions.

Hubby and I played on this like 3 times! Every time I fell to my side at the end. Falling is so fun!

Sitting outside the cafe.

Taking a break before heading down.

A long cable car ride down.

Overlooking the inns and hotels at the foot of Mt. Titlis.

Outside the entrance of Mt Titlis, there's a small cozy bar with loud music for the skiers.

I had lots of fun in Mt. Titlis and I hoped that you had enjoyed this blog too. ❤

King Ludwig II castles: Linderhof and Neuschwanstein

Hello!! I'm back here in Munich, Germany.

I love to visit Germany because the Germans are humble, friendly and easy-going people.

AND and and...

Buying Rimowa is sooo much cheaper in Germany too!

Changed around SGD 600 just for the Rimowa luggage  (cabin size), since I already own a Rimowa Limbo (cargo size).  The wheels are very smooth and is one of the best in the market, even on carpets.

It is almost half price as compared to buying in Singapore! And if you claim tax... more savings $$$!

Rimowa Luggage Trolley 4 wheels

But to my dismay, the color and size that I wanted has no stock. *sigh* Have to give it a miss this time round.

Since there's nothing for me to spend my money on, I decided to bring Hubby for the Royal Castles Tour. Hubby's first time to Munich -  a good excuse for me to go for the same tour again.

Linderhof and Neuschwanstein Castles

6.30am

Hubby and I at the hotel's lobby. Going for a hearty buffet breakfast before the tour bus come to pick us up at 7.30am at the hotel.   OMG!! The baguette in Germany is so damn solid (Singlish: describing something or someone very impressive). Try it when you are there ok?

8am

At the meeting point.

Got to wait till 8.30am to board the official tour bus.

Group shot with the girls.

By the way, I'm wearing a full head hair wig from a Korean online shop. So natural looking. I like the hair color as it brighten up my skin and makes me fairer. Plus, it helps to keep me warm when the temperature drop. Of course I wouldn't suggest wearing a full head long wig in 365-day-scorching-hot-summer in Singapore! Unless you wouldn't mind scratching your scalp like every few minutes.

In the tour bus, enjoying the scenic view throughout the 45mins journey.

Autumn is such a pretty season.

Yeah! Approaching Schloss Linderhof (Linderhof Palace).

Yes, that day was wet and gloomy. But that didn't deter us from being excited for this tour. :)

Preparing ourselves to walk in the drizzle. Luckily I have my hat with me, so I don't have to carry an umbrella.

The entrance to Schloss Linderhof.

No more photographs are allowed to be taken after this hall.

Will be showing you some of the photos that I found online...

Yes! You are not seeing things. King Ludwig II actually had this built inside the palace. But this part of the palace was not included in the tour.

Even though Linderhof is the smallest castle that King Ludwig II built, I personally feel that it is one of the nicest in the world because it is very elaborate and cosy.

It was kinda like Michael Jackson's Neverland of King Ludwig II time. Dreamy with fairy tale and all...

Also to add, I don't understand his obsession with swans. And it can be found in almost every corner there.

Even his personal spring water tap in his bedroom is modeled after a swan.

Kinda like Hello Kitty obsession!

Swan at the nearby lake.

Only a pair there. They kept following us - must be the down jackets that some of us are wearing.

Took this shot while walking back to the bus. Taken outside the ticketing area.

Autumn
Us again~ :)

Famous Cuckoo Clocks.

They took us to a village to pick up some souvenirs.

Magnets is a MUST to get wherever I travel to. That is why we are looking so serious in choosing our magnets :P

Next and final stop: Neuschwanstein Castle (also known as the Sleeping Beauty Castle)

Sleep Beauty Castle
 Neuschwanstein.

Spooky looking due to the fog.  If only there is a haunted castle looking like that, it will sure be a kick-ass attraction!

closer to the Neuschwanstein Castle.

Mary's bridge or the Neuschwanstein Castle?

Let's walk towards the Mary's bridge.

A fantastic location to take a postcard photo of the Neuschwanstein castle.

Open only if the weather permits.

I love the sound of waterfall.

So sad that it was foggy.

Can't see anything further than 2 meters, let alone the faraway castle.

Taking a long walk to the Neuschwanstein Castle.

You may take the horse carriage to Schlob Hohenschwangau which is located down the slope.

Haven't got the chance to visit Schlob Hohenschwangau. Hopefully one day I will be able to do so :)
